The following reviews are part of a series in the EBM section of Pain Practice that together form a practical guideline for correct use of interventional pain management techniques. The reviews were initially based on practice guidelines written by Dutch and Flemish (Belgian) experts (Boswell 2005; Boswell 2007) that are assembled in a handbook for the Dutch-speaking pain physicians. After translation, the article was updated and edited in cooperation with U.S./international pain specialists.
